Although I'm not a believer, the legends of "The Veil of Veronica" and "The Shroud of Turin" have always fascinated me. When I make photograms, lumen prints or cyanotypes I feel a similar magical process happens for me. By placing an object on sensitized cloth or paper and exposing it to light the object makes an image of it self. The result is somewhere between x-ray, shadow and photograph and is somewhat unpredictable. This hands-on process is for me a good antidote to the predictability of digital photography.
